The layers of analysis Thout generates

After a meeting is captured (see the Meetings guide), Thout automatically turns the transcript into structured analysis. Open any meeting and you'll find these generated layers:

Executive Brief

  • The spring launch moves to April 14; packaging confirmation is the only open dependency.
  • Retail channel targets stay unchanged pending the distributor's April numbers.

Understanding confidence and evidence

Thout never asks you to take an insight on faith — every claim links back to the recording, and every summary tells you how solid it is.

The TL;DR confidence badge

The TL;DR carries a confidence badge (for example Low confidence). Click it to open an Evidence popup that explains the rating in plain language — for example, that a transcript was fragmented or hard to attribute, and that claims couldn't be anchored with high confidence.

Per-insight evidence

Every decision, time-sensitive item, and risk carries an Evidence (n) button. Click it to expand the proof:

  • Severity tag (e.g. Medium severity) and confidence tag (e.g. Low confidence).
  • Speaker and timestamp — who said it, and when in the recording.
  • The verbatim quote from the transcript, so you can judge it yourself.

How to edit the analysis

The generated analysis is a starting point, not a verdict — everything is correctable before you share it.

Fix the meeting title

  1. Click the meeting title — the Edit title dialog opens with the current name.
  2. Type the new name and click Save. (Also available via ⋯ > Edit meeting name.)

Rewrite the generated text

The Executive Brief and Meeting Narrative are editable in place — click into the text and type, like a document.

Remove a wrong insight

Hover any decision, time-sensitive item, or risk and click the X to remove just that item — the rest of the analysis stays intact.

Adding your own notes and files

Alongside what Thout generates, you can attach your own context to any meeting's analysis.

Add a note

  1. Click ⋯ > Add a note.
  2. Write your note — the Add button activates once you type — then click Add.
  3. Your notes live in the Meeting notes section at the bottom of the analysis (it shows "No notes yet" until you add one).

How to export and share the analysis

  • Share — the Share button copies three things to your clipboard: the meeting title, the TL;DR, and a public share.thout.ai link anyone can open.
  • Download as PDF — ⋯ > Download as PDF saves the full analysis as a PDF file.
  • Try new insights (beta) — ⋯ > Try new insights (beta) regenerates the analysis with Thout's next-generation insights engine.

Tip: need a custom format — say, a client-ready summary or an email draft? Ask the meeting chat (see Chat with your CoS) and copy its reply.

Insights tips & FAQ

What does the confidence badge actually measure?

How well the summary is anchored in the transcript. Click the badge — the Evidence popup explains the reasons in plain language (for example, a degraded or fragmented recording).

An insight is wrong. Can I delete just that one?

Yes — click the X next to that item. Everything else stays.

Can I edit what the AI wrote?

Yes. The Executive Brief and Meeting Narrative are editable in place, and the title has an Edit title dialog.

Why do some items say "Proposed; not committed"?

That's Thout being precise: someone floated it, but nobody explicitly committed. The evidence quote lets you verify.

Where do my notes show up?

In the Meeting notes section at the bottom of the analysis.

What's "Try new insights (beta)"?

A ⋯ menu option that regenerates this meeting's analysis with Thout's newer engine.
